So how did you hear about purposegames? Who told you? Why did you start playing?

Well, for me, my answer is rather embarrasing: I don't know. It was almost 5 1/2 years ago, and a lot happens in 5 years, and, well, unfortunately, you forget a lot in that time. And I forgot how I heard about Purposegames.

    So what about you?

About one year ago, I was in 5th grade. We had to memorize the states, capitals, and abbreviations. My teacher let us use purposegames to practice on our class smartboard ( large touch-screen computer on the wall with a picture projected on it.) On October 23, 2011, I decided to create my own game, but when i went to the create screen, it said only members could create. So I decided to make an account. I then stopped going on for 4 months. Then i went back to see how things were going, and I created groups, friended people, and played games. I haven't stopped going on here since.

No reason to feel dumb. It's a question that has been asked before (a few times), and will be asked again (maybe many more times).

AND...it is a good question, a good topic.

Yes, it was brought up long ago, and there were a number of members who answered. But a lot of people have joined since then.

Here is the place for newer members to tell their stories. Anyone who wants older stories could follow the link I gave.

I don't think there is any reason to delete this thread. So the question remains for anyone:

    How did you find PurposeGames?

The old thread has nobody finding by Facebook or Twitter, for example. Has anyone found us that way?

I was first this website March 3rd, 2012 and I chose this because one day (or basically March 3rd, 2012 I search for countries in Europe Quiz and I clicked the first one and that brought me here. This looked like a fun website so I created an account. Then I started meeting famous users (such as: heateh, sven-the-man2, RootBeer, Grainbeer, chafawa, David, American idol, smellpepper, makropulos, zoel, apokar, etc.) I was playing a lot of games fast and on the third day here I became a PRO with about 50 <100 and now I am a Grand Master+ and with 2 <100 (March 24th in History, Rivers of Africa) both played in march.

My teenage daughter was playing another challenge game about Africas geography, which
gave "moretaste" (a Swedish word)and googling around for quizzes found this. Played a lot with my family but had a long break. Now I've registeried and am very hooked for the moment. I look down upon anything less educating to do on the internet. ;-9

My Social Studies teacher showed our class a game on this website. A test was coming up and I wanted to find a way to study, so I made an account on here and started making games.

My awesome teacher Coach Reaves showed me this when we were learning the states of the USA. Then the countries of Asia. Then Europe, Africa, North America, and South America. Then the 50 states and capitals. He gave a lot of tests. O_O

I was going to find the topic that Tickman brought up, as my answer is ALSO there... BUT, thanks to his research on it, I don't have to. sooo, long story short, I was looking for a way to learn the names of all the states of the USA for a quiz in a history class I had during high school, and found David's original game of the same name. after playing that and a few others, I decided I wanted to be able to play competitively (I was sad that it wouldn't record my times unless I was a member) AND wanted to be able to comment on the games I liked, so I joined, promptly made a few games, and went on the join the crowd of GM+'s, at which point I ran out of enthusiasm for playing, as there was nothing above that to get, and I KNEW I couldn't keep up with the most active members in playing games (makropulos, anyone??? but at the time it was Bobolo) soooo.... there you go! :)
