PurposeGames Updated

To All!

As you may have noticed, Purposegames got updated today with a brand new look, some new features, and quite a few fixes to issues that have been reported by the members over time.

Please take the time to reacquaint yourself with the site and see how you like it.

The FAQ section of the site will be added to during the course of the coming days and weeks, and will hopefully - after a little while - contain most of the information any new member may need.

This release contain a lot of changes under the hood so you may expect a bumpy road to begin with. If you find any bugs, please report them here in the forums and I'll see to fixing them asap.

Before reporting a bug, please make sure you do the following first:

• Refresh your browser. It may need to be completely refreshed by repetedly hitting the refresh button a couple of times.
• State the problem as detailed as you can and also let us know the make of your browser (IE, Chrome, Safari, Firefox etc)

Groups, Tournaments, Games, and the Forums should work pretty much as they did before. There are some new ways of communicating in groups and also in a challenge (the challenge "chat" is extremely crude right now, but it works).

New things are Challenges, Shape games, Followers, and the Pulse.
Most things will be self explanatory once you try them out, but those things that aren't will surely end up in the FAQ very soon.

Some changes have affected all:

• You need to re-upload an avatar for your account. If you see your old avatar in your account it's because you haven't refreshed your browser on the page you are standing. Hit refresh and then upload a new image.
• Instead of "friends" we now have followers and following. The ones who follow you that you are following, become "friends" and then you'll be able to send PM's to each other.
• To play a tournament you need to start the game from the tournament page. New shortcuts and navigation within a tournament makes for a more efficient way of playing, but it's no longer possible to count a game play that wasn't started from within the tournament itself

My problem is as follows:
When I try to create a game, I am told my Flash Player needs to be updated, and am given a link to follow which takes me to the Adobe Flash Player Download Center. I select my operating system (Mac OS X 10.4.11) and it gives me a version of flash player to download (Flash Player 10.3).
Once I have downloaded this and try to install it, it pops up with an error message that tells me that devices with PowerPC are no longer supported. I've tried looking for ways to solve this on the Adobe website. I'm not sure what my current Flash Player is.

Comments on your games will be shown in your pulse. Yes.
Not sure what you mean by statistics on your games.

The info-page of the game is still available and lists amount of plays, who played it last and shows comments etc. Is that what you meant?

Also, on your profile, you have your games section, as before, but you can also press the links to the right on your pulse page (main profile page) and in your case end up here:

@David: What is the specific version of Flash you need to create and play the games? (I think I might have found a few versions for PPC)

Yes. That's by design.

I have pretty much the same question as smileyguy91: Is there still a message board?

@smileyguy91 @Night Fury: the messageboard on the user profile is currently not there.

I wanted to have a try without it for the time being.

Means of communications are right now:

• PM (must be mutual followers)
• Challenge (comment/chat, though crude in its implementation it still works)
• Group board + forums
• Tournament comments
• Game comments
• The user forums

I haven't decided yet whether or not to bring back "quick messaging" between members.

When creating a shape game, is it possible to close the advanced options tab? Everytime I click on advanced options it opens up a new advanced options tab. I guess that the square in the top right corner is used for closing the tab, but it doesn't work.

With the new liking system was put in place, some of the games that were calculated before is not calculated now. I'll post an in-depth explanation as to when a game counts in the leaderboard and not.

@heateh: I see what you mean. It actually "works" if you open it and then close it. Then it works fine. It's if you "double click" to open or open more than one which will lead to problems.

I'll put it in the log and fix it soon.
