why do 1st and 2nd get the same reward?

We had to choose how to divide 5 nods. The most likely possibilities are:

3 and 2 for for first and second

3, 1 and 1 for first, second, and third

2,1,1 and 1 for first, second, third and fourth

2,2 and 1 for first, second, third.

None of these are ideal, so we just picked one, without giving it too much thought or discussion. Often, 1st and second are fairly close, so it's not that off the wall to do it this way.

And hey, who is going to complain about getting nods, anyway?

In the China series competition, each GameFella gave up 2 nods, and we had it 5, 3 and 2 for first, second and third. But that was not only our first tournament, but a much bigger one in terms of our effort (we all made new games, coordination was tough, etc.), so we thought that it was appropriate, even though the 5 nods was an exceptional reward.
