    The value of x if x is equal to the square of the third root of eight then added to the square root of x, and subtracting one.

    that being X=(third root of 8) squared + (square root of X) - 1. dang man, that's complicated stuff. upper level algebra is involved there, why must you be such a pain? :P (I'm only joking about it!) anyway, i'll take 19.

    I just tried working it out and I got 1 plus or minus the square root of thirteen all over 2.
    Darn, that's why I didn't do so well in algebra.

    Yeah, put me down as five.

    how do you get 5? I'm coming up to: x^2-x-9=0, which doesn't work out to 5 in my book. ?!?!? (in fact, I'm slightly less than certain what the answer REALLY is.)

    The third root of 8 is 2 (2x2x2), and 2^2 is 4, so x=4.
    The square root of 4 is 2, and 4+2-1=5.

    I'm not quite sure what it was supposed to be anymore.
    Maybe I shouldn't have slept in Algebra class all the time. :P

    Actually for a. stoner's math question:

    x=8^(2/3)+sqrt(x)-1
    x=4+sqrt(x)-1
    x=sqrt(x)+3
    x-3=sqrt(x)
    (x-3)^2=x
    x^2-6x+9=x
    x^2-7x+9=0
    And, there are no integer solutions to the above.

    I'll take 16.

    Ashgabat's last equation:

    x^2-7x+9=0

    SOOOO:

    x^2+ 7x=-9

    And, there are no integer solutions to the above.
