Has this ever happened to anyone: when you click on a dot, your time stops moving, though when you click on the next dot the time elapsed between clicks has been added... but at some point then or soon after, the time stops altogether, and even though there are more dots to click, and after you've click them all, no additional time has been added from the point the clock stopped?

I noticed this tonight for the first time on a butterfly game, I scored 1.7 seconds in, but there were about 4 more things to click on and the time didn't accumulate appropriately.
See score here:

I won't play anymore games from this point.

If this was a common anomaly I'm sure we'd have heard more about it by now.

It sounds very strange and I'll certainly look into it and if you could recreate that problem with a certain procedure please do contact/PM me with that procedure.

Thanks.

I've not noticed the symptoms you mention (I'm not a clock watcher), but maybe I know of a similar problem.

Sometimes when I play, the game stalls for a second or so: click on a dot, nothing happens. It can take a couple more clicks for the dot to respond. These "burps" are not common, and not repeatable for me. But I have noticed them.

I think I recall other people mentioning similar problems, and thinking that different browsers may be the cause (I use Firefox on a Mac). And usually, closing and reopening the browser helps. Or restarting the computer.

Mind you, when I'm at PG, I often have many applications running: FireFox for PG, Safari at Wikipedia, and Photoshop Elements (and/or PowerPoint) with a game I'm making. And of course, Excel: a file with a list of game ideas on one worksheet, resizing ratios for graphics (so they're all ratios of 700 X 550), other worksheets with data for specific games. It's a wonder that this 5 or six year old computer can handle the load.

I'll have to keep an eye out for the symptoms you describe.

I haven't noticed any problems with this. I think it might be the type of computer or internet software you might have.
Just an idea.

Thanks for the responses :P

I tried to reproduce what I think happened, but I didn't observe time-blipping. I usually hop around for games and play them one after the next - so I had around 14 games loaded in one firefox window at the time it happened. Also, I was listening to a mantra on youtube and I noticed problems with that video too - it was starting and stopping before completion. And earlier in the morning, there was an adobe upgrade.. so maybe somewhere between all that, the ability spawned to control the time.

If you look around at certain times on some games, it becomes obvious that it is possible. For instance:
http://www.purposegames.com/game/mms-quiz/info
http://www.purposegames.com/game/1278/info
If you look at the dashboard of one of those players, you'll see they've only played one game, with one extraordinary time. Maybe she or he was experimenting and testing to see how it works.

The top scores could be the time between starting the game, and clicking on the first dot, and then the time stops - and you can complete the game without any time accumulation. That's how those scores could be possible - as well as other scores could be manipulated by clicking start and waiting for a chosen time, then click a dot and stop the time, and proceed tra-la-la to unchallenged victory.

I suspect its a memory related incident, and can be achieved intentionally. Though, while currently enjoying a beer, I think I connected with the mantra I was listening to in a unique way and at will was able to control my reality! And by reality - I mean my imaginary internetal body. Plausible indeed!! Just kidding :P

In overrated football player trivia the game stops for me after 8 dots. I just noticed it and when i played a different game it didn't happen. So it seems isolated, but maybe I have some magic touch.

@edi68815:

That's not a bug, it's an option:

in the game creation mode, you can click on the option button, and you get a dialog box that allows you to set the number of dots at any number less than or equal to the number of dots in the set. (You can also turn off the hints for wrong dots clicked).

You might question why one would set it at 8 out of 11 dots, but this seems to be what has been done in this case.

Tickman is right veejay, the is an option to do that.

And I should also clarify:

The number of dots showing does not change. It's always the total number of dots in the game. But using the option means that some of them are dead. With each play, the pattern changes.
