    Hi all!

Great fun David! :) Enjoying the site a lot, but one little moan ....

The UK top 25 cities is a bit odd. You have included (e.g.) Torquay as a city, but it isn't, yet have omitted one of the greatest cities in our country's history, which is Bristol! My own city, not even on the map! There may well be others, I am pretty certain that Scarborough isn't a city either. Torquay and Scarborough are simply holiday resorts, and are not even particularly important towns! (although I'm sure people who live there think so! :P

    Hi Cat!

I'm glad you like the games. When it comes to the U.K. game I've actually had those comments coming my way before.

This is one of the earlier games and when I created it I chose cities or places that I'd heard of before. Torquay was one place that immediately came to mind.

Long story short, I never reflected on it not being a city and haven't got around to changing it. Yet.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I actually thought that some of the cities were chosen to make the game more evenly spaced or even a bit tricky sometimes. When I first learned the UK I don't know how many times I mixed up Torquay and Portsmouth... :-P

So many 25 cities maps don't exactly have the 25 largest cities/towns in that country. Then some countries would have many cities very close and then just a few spread out over the rest of the map, take Canada and Russia as an example...

    As always David, Great games!

Yes, the illusive time bug... I'll have to fix it.

You're right about the even spaced spreading theory in the games, by the way. Only for the U.K. I can't really recall having to make any such compromises. Who hasn't heard of Torquay? :)

To me, Torquay got famous through Fawlty Towers and so called Language Travels from Sweden to GB. They all seemed to end up in Torquay.

Thanks for the praise of the games.

Even if it were only for Fawlty Towers, Torquay has to stay :)

Mrs Richards: I asked for a room with a view!
Basil: [muttering to Manuel] Deaf, mad, and blind...
[He goes to the window and peers through it.]
Basil: Ah, this is the view as far as I can remember, madam… yes, yes, this is it.

Mrs Richards: When I pay for a view, I expect something more interesting than that.
    Basil: That is Torquay, madam.
Mrs Richards: Well, it's not good enough.
Basil: Well, may I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically—

Mrs Richards: Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea.
Basil: You can see the sea. It's over there between the land and the sky.
Mrs Richards: I'd need a telescope to see that.

Basil: Well, may I suggest that you consider moving to a hotel closer to the sea?! [muttering to himself] Or preferably in it.
    -----
    Basil: There is your bath.
Mrs Richards: You call that a bath? It's not big enough to drown a mouse. It's disgraceful.
Basil: [muttering to himself] I wish you were a mouse, I'd show you.
