Help! Newbie here. I can't upload a background with text. I mistakenly did a blank one at first, and it worked fine, but obviously thats useless.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

What format is the file saved as?

I don't think it works to upload a .doc file.

The system only allows you to upload .jpg, .png. or .gif. Double check to make sure your document is one of those file types and it should be good to go.

    Hope that helps. Good luck!

Famisamis has probably given you the info you need. Formats are very limited. The other possibility that your file is too large. There is a 300 KB limit.

So, check file type and size. You may have to change the file type through a "Save as" or "export" command in order to fix it: there are many programs which would allow you to do this.

    Good luck, and good games.

They're all 144 KB, and I tried .jpg, .gif, and .png, and the only one that worked was the blank white one. And I did "Save as" for all but one, which I tried as a just "Save". I'll try "export", and see if that works. And maybe through Photobucket?

    Thank you for the help.

I can't figure out what's wrong. But if you have more than one program which will open and save these kinds of files, by all means, try it out of different programs to see if you can find one that works. In theory, any program that does this kind of stuff should work. In practice, sometimes an application does a poor job of formatting certain file types.

Also, what browser are you using?

I'm using Internet Explorer, but switching to Mozilla didn't help either. What finally did work was opening the picture with HP Director, saving it again, and then uploading it. It was purely an impulse, and I have no idea why it worked.

But now I can't find the game! I published it in linguistics, found it, and played it once, and now it's gone!!

However, no one else's backgrounds are showing up with their descriptions at the moment either. So maybe its an internet/pc gremlin?

By the way, is it ok to mention textkit.com in the description? They have the latin texbook I'm using, and it won't be the last one.

    Thanks again.

If you're asking me, I always like to provide some kind of link to additional information. If I copy an image directly, I give the exact link, and indicate the license status. I use either public domain or copylefted (as opposed to copyrighted) sources: creative commons or GNU licenses. Yes, there really *is* such a thing as "copyleft".

So by all means, cite your source. If someone is interested in the subject, you then have given them a place to go in order to learn more. In my opinion, this is what puts the "purpose" in "Purpose Games".

Please forgive my ignorance. Exactly how does one edit a game? In addition to citing textkit, I would also like to add a tag, and a couple of vocabulary words I accidentally left out.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Click on "My games".
Click on "Edit" for the game you will change.
    Make your changes.
    Click on "Save".
    Click on "Publish"
    Thats all.
