Perhaps there should be a place on the Leaderbord for how people has scored in tourneys in public groups as well?
I think this would boost the participation in this kind of tourneys. The only way to ”reward” winners now is with nods, but if you use your nods to that you don’t have any left for other things you find worthy of a nod.
One idea is that points should be awarded as a function of how many different players has scored 100% in the tourney, i.e. if you have 12 people scoring 100% the winner gets 12pts, the runner up gets 11pts and so forth and to qualify for points a tourney should have a minimum duration, maybe five days?

    Yes. Very good idea.

I'll see about implementing something like it.

I agree, this is something that must be done. People like Arturo or Bobolo are always among the first in my tournaments and they should be rewarded for this more than the nods that i can give.

    Roger that, Niklas.

The people who play in the group tourneys are worthy of recognition. I'm glad you posted this: it is a very good idea.

Nice idea, Niklas. But I don't quite follow you. Do you mean that people in e.g. my group, who are content playing in perhaps only three group tournaments, can see people playing in ten, fifteen tournaments will pass them by the quantity in this would-be-leaderboard?

I guess so, the more you play the more points you can score. Do you have a better idea?

the fact is you can rank people in many ways and each way will lead to an aberrant behaviour. The solution could be to implement many possible rankings but it's harder to relize.

It depends on what is your goal. If you are trying to boost the number of plays, give points for that: just playing. If you want to give credit to good groups... well i don't know ! but each goal needs a different approach

many times i feel the need for different kinds of tournament. I'd like to give prize for the first one completing with 100% a dozen of difficutl games but i don't know how to be sure who was the first one to complete that.

No, I don't have a better idea. I just wondered.
I would, as is said above, sometimes like to nod more people, but on the other hand, we all have two things we can do, if not three.
    1. Give positive comments. That's what I like; I often do that, as you might have seen.
    2. Write to a fellow member and tell her/ him what a star she/he is.
    3. Use the commentary beneath the tournament more often, in order to give away your hurrahs.
