As I sometimes get the question about how and what games end up on the front page, I thought I take the time to comment on it here.

The front page displays games recently created by members on the site. When a member has published a couple of games that have received relatively good remarks, the publishing of a new game from that member nearly always leads to the front page.

In certain cases, I remove games from the front page that I think doesn’t fit there for one reason or another. In other cases, if a publisher has already published a lot of games recently, the logic removes it from the front page by itself.

It's however important to remember that any game published – whether it made the front page or not – can be found in the game page, if you sort by "Most Recent". A link to that page is also directly available on the front page.

Just because a game of yours doesn’t end up on the first page, it doesn’t mean it isn’t published.

In essence, the front page is the window to PurposeGames and will contain relatively new games that have been found good enough to represent the site to new visitors. Back when the site was smaller, it was possible to have ALL games end up there. Not anymore, which is why I’ve taken control over it.

Compare it to the front page of YouTube, and it works pretty much the same. Far from all videos published on YouTube make the frontpage. I know YouTube is a LOT bigger than this site but the principle is just the same.
