This game is about selected coastal regions in Europe.
Left: Northern Ireland and Scotland, top right: part of the Spanish Mediterranean coast and Balearic Islands, bottom right: German Baltic Sea coast. If you like my game, try http://www.purposegames.com/game/941/info too.

This is very similar to game 342 with a smaller map segment. I have done it again because I wanted to show you how the outlines of the isles look like. To be different I used the german names. Be shure to play 342 as well, because it has a wider range with additional interesting spots like the Ba ...

I didn't want to publish this but I can't pass it on if I don't. Sorry. I'm full aware of the existence of game 157, which is much better than mine.

Corrected Helgoland
English Channel and Frisian Islands, April 15, 2007

I think it would be better to have separate games for the Channel and the Frisian Islands.
The black map looks bad. You should probably try to rework the image.
The Frisian Islands are incomplete, the map shows only the German part. This should be noted in the game title or description. It lacks the West Frisian Islands that are part of the Netherlands and the Danish Wadden Sea Islands. Opinions differ whether the latter are part of the North Frisian Islands because they were not settled by Frisians but from a geographical point of view they are.
And move the dot for Helgoland somewhat further into the open sea.

Finally someone played my game! My source has been the latest version of Google Earth. About the date the only hint I can find is the caption "Image (c)2007 TerraMetris", but that mustn't necessarily include the border layer. I will go into the matter. I'm amazed you made the effort to make a 100%, thought you'd be learning for your diploma ;-)

Hi Francis, nice game!
Where do you have the information from? Some new districts split from the one's in your game so there are more districts today than you included in your game.
That doesn't worsen your game since new districts split from existing ones, the original ones keeping their names AND all the districts being named after their capital (except for Kabarole with the capital Fort Portal) AND 45 being enough to learn anyway.
According to different online sources the number of districts today must be between 56 (Uganda tourist information) to 80 (Wikipedia, though their articles are inconsistent), so I don't know what to believe. This must have been current events because I looked it up in Fischer's Weltalmanach 2006, usually a highly reliable source when it comes to politics and geography, and they still talk about 45 districts so beeing in line with your game.
You should however include source and date of the data you used. Another thing, although you used a beautiful background it would have been nice if your map showed waterbodies, too, particularly Lake Victoria.
In this respect I kind of like the backgrounds you used in your North Sea/Baltic Sea games because they are highly detailed. But after reading forum thread and comments I can understand why people have problems with them. My opinion is that if you used the same maps but filled landmasses and water with different colors, they would be brilliant.

Thanks for the comments so far. I choose this areas, because they haven't been in pupose games in detail. I added a description of the areas, too.

Having read the discussion in the forum first and then highlighted this game I opened it up to see what the game was like. Initially I could make out northern Scotland to the left, but I have no idea where the rest of it is located. Since it is late I didn't attempt playing it. Perhaps someone else might get that impression too and pass on it. Maybe you could clarify the areas in the description of the game.

Hi Francis, I have not rated your game but here are a few comments:
1- The background images are confusing: I know you pick them for their coastal detail, but it is hard to tell which is land and which is sea. Especially if you only put a chunk of it, like you did for the Spanish and German coasts in this game. If don't know what country they represent, it pretty much looks like abstract art, and is not very informative geography-wise.
2- You don't have a strong consistency in this game. It would probably be a better idea to create a game on either islands or on cities but not both. Also If you are going to merge several images in one background, choose a common idea between them (European islands?), and write a more specific game title.
Hope this helps.

Good point about the use of the world isle, thank you famisamis. So the line between islet and island, is it in one's sole discretion, namely relative?
