The dot is at the mouth of the river. Number in Parentheses is the rank.

@ Ashgabat:
Thanks for your comment. I have checked with <a href="
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_river">the source I used, and it indicates Purus @ #17, and Madeira-Mamore @ #19.
You might want to check that link, not so much for which river is ahead of which on the list, but for the discussion of how difficult it is to obtain these measurements to begin with. It depends a bit on who's doing measuring, and what criteria they use. In my lifetime, I remember the Nile, Mississippi-Missouri-Redrock and Amazon all being called the world's longest.
As far as the typo goes, I will fix it as soon as I get an opportunity to do so.
Thanks again.

The Madeira-Mamore is longer than the Purus, and you spelled "St. Lawrence" as St. Lawrencce.

Thanks.

Thanks for reporting the error. After more than 2000 plays, you're the first to notice (or at least the first to inform me). I make a lot of mistakes like this (wrong number, incorrect spelling, misplaced dot, etc.), so I appreciate the report.
The irony here is that there is actually a dispute as to which of these rivers really is the longest: it could change back and forth several times before it is over. And that's not counting consideration of the "Mississippi-Missouri-Redrock", which is sometimes called the longest...
