All the mentioned varieties are good (each distillery has different casks, years, ages and so on but they all have more or less the same starting material), but I prefer Lagavulin or possibly Bowmore (which is quite similar even in the context of Islay whiskies). It shouldn't be too old either (aged on cask that is, the bottle can stand around forever once you've bought it (but it seldom does)) so as to have enough roughness left. At a pinch the Ileach could also be nice even though it's only been aged for is it 8 or 6 years?

I usually prefer the ones from Islay, especially Laphroaig.

Pretty good. Well-filtered, aged in oak. Fun, just don't drink too much.
