Smaller than a mesa? -- That's a Butte. Alaska, and Montana

Groucho's brother? -- That's Chico Marx. Or in this case, Chico, California

A redhead? -- Auburn, Washington

Electrostatic discharges? -- Sparks, Nevada

Trout-like fish? -- Salmon, Idaho

Mythical bird? -- Phoenix, Arizona

Place not to carry coals? -- Newcastle, Wyoming

Enormous stone? -- Boulder, Colorado

Sunk in 1940? -- Bismark, North Dakota

Mr. Curie? (different pronunciation) -- Pierre, South Dakota

Famed Republican? -- Lincoln, Nebraska
