The Port you refer to as Zeila...is actually Massawa. Zeila is much further south, in what is now Somalia( close to the border with Djibouti ) . Zeila was nominally part of the Ottoman Empire for a short period in the 19th Century, after which it was ceded to Egypt . The British seized it in the 1880's to prevent French expansion in East Africa
