Too many with the WTD as state mammal. (Nobody chose the mule deer, but 2 havemoose and at least one has elk).
Like all the European countries who have lions as their national animals.
At least the white-tailed deer is still common in the wild (and popular as a game animal) in most of the United States.
It's been awhile since there were wild lions in Europe...
