Another good one to know: Coltan, from which comes Niobium and Tantalum. It is very important for recent history because the biggest war in terms of deaths since WW2 was the 2nd Congo War, which happened within the last 10 years and killed over 5 million people. It started as a proxy war between US/UK and French/Belgian client states (there were 9 such proxy wars between the US and France in Africa in the post cold war period), then continued interminably mainly due to western companies financing groups that use forced labor to mine Coltan, necessary to make cell phones, and other minerals.
