I'm quite confused by these statistics. These statistics only cover a part of Europe. I'm interested to know where you found your sources. Was it from this site? NationMaster. The statistics on that site are taken from The European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control (HEUNI) Crime Rapport. The person who analyzed and summarized them for the nationmasters site are incorrect. You can check page 15 on the rapport for authoritative figures. Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and other East-European cities are way ahead of Turkey. Turkey is not even mentioned in a top 50 of countries world wide with the most amount of murders. Those statistics are also not up-to-date.
You can find authoritative figures on this site: The Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development and at this specific figure: Countries ranked by violent death rate per 100,000 population, 2004-2009.
