Many different languages were spoken in Italy before it was conquered by the Romans. While Latin then became the official language of the region, Greek remained a very important language, especially in the southern parts (Magna Graecia).

very nice map. this color solution is really effective !
I would say Umbrian seems too much south.

Also sardinian would be great (i think there are 2 varieties)
