Actually, scrap that last comment. I'm talking rubbish! Time to get my brain into gear!

It's a little confusing with the Baltic States. With one, you have the older independence dot as the upper of two dots, with the other you have it as the lower. Perhaps it might be better to be consistent here?

My date for Bulgaria was wrong. I put the right year with the date (August 5) from an adjacent entry: Burkina Faso. Thanks for pointing that out.
But:
My source says September 22. Some sources note that independence wasn't officially recognized until 1908, which still disagrees with your date.
Part of the problem here is the difference between the National Day, and the Independence Day, which have a fuzzy overlap both in concept and in date. In some cases, the dates aren't even close. Throw in problems like the difference in when independence is declared, when it is de facto achieved, and when it is recognized, and it is very difficult. And then, there are countries with moveable dates, or more than one independence day...
For the independence day, I'm going with this source:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_day
There is also an entry for National Day:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Day
And that would make for a possible game. But I'm not planning on it, so you're more than welcome to.
Thanks for the comment.

The comment I meant to leave initially:
"Independence Day" is not always a cut and dried thing. Some countries have been colonized/occupied many times, and it is hard to pin down which date is most appropriate. Many countries also have a "national" day which celebrates their sovereign nationhood. This may or may not be the same as their independence day.
There is also a difference between when independence is declared, achieved de facto, and when it is recognized (by the colonial power or the world in general).
The dates I use here are mostly from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_day
But even in that list, it isn't always clear-cut.
