I have the same exact same problem. I have to tie the gladioli flower to a stake, otherwise it lays on the ground! Also in New England the roots can't handle the cold weather so it has to be re-planted each year.

It is amazing that anyone could even get a picture of a dozen gladioli standing up. Mine are usually horizontal when the blooms start to open and a raincloud has done its dirty work. Poenies have this perennial problem too!
