Note:
Understandably, a map like this will always have inaccuracies:
First, it is difficult to delimit where one dialect begins and another ends.
Second: different people classify things differently: one might see two dialects where another sees only one. And the difference between a "dialect" and a truly separate language may be difficult to determine.
Third: everything changes over time. In the case of China, official preference for Mandarin is weakening the hold of other dialects.
