Hard!
Some of the states on the map are either wrong looking or badly proportioned, as Florida looks larger than Wisconsin and Illinois.

I used this page as my source, which differs a bit in its area figures from those listed at the Wikipedia list on the subject (see the land column); but the sort order should be the same. Later I will create similar games for the western states, and for both which include territorial waters.

ashgabat - it's largely an optical illusion, as it would take a much bigger box to fit sprawling Florica in, than more compact states. However, if one includes territorial waters, you can see that the ranking is much different, and more in line with your impressions:
