A couple other good ones: West Bengal-India and the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Papua-Indonesia and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, American Samoa-United States and the Independent State of Samoa.

Very educational indeed! It reminds you that the Greek-Macedonian naming situation is by no means an exception. The Greeks should look to these examples an accept that a country very well can have the same name as a region of another country.
