Continental Naming Systems

Continental Naming Systems

created by tickman, 2 years ago in Geography

Believe it or not, the division of the world into continents is regarded (and taught) differently in different parts of the world.

These are the common systems. Label for system (Sys) at the left of each map, continents labeled on the maps.

Note: these are geographical as opposed to geological definitions...

Sab:

That's another whole can of worms, and it is quite a bit beyond the scope of this game. If I can think of a good way to blend all that together in another game, I'll certainly do it. The topic is touched on in the references I cite, but goes much beyond it.

As I say, if I can figure it out, expect to see a game on it eventually.

I'm starting to think about the importance of variant and overlapping terminologies, as in my recent British Isles game.

I think that there may be more possible games along these lines. I've got another one or two in the planning phases, and here, you've given me cause to consider another.

Good game showing the various systems, but what about differences between Australia/Australasia/Oceania?

Ouch. I made this, and it's tougher than I thought it would be.
