Modern Greek has evolved from two different strands - the elevated formal usage of the educated and upper-class, more written than spoken and derived ultimately from Classical Greek and the "demotic" of the masses, heavily influenced by the centuries of Ottoman (Turkish speaking) occupation - hence the duplications.
(A similar complicated political history has afflicted Norwegian.)
Thankyou very much Niklas for creating this Quiz. I do hope you will be able to give us some more practice in a fascinating language.
Many thanks and all good wishes

I really don't know why there are more than one name. There were several names on the site I found when I researched the game and I didn't dare to exclude anyone, probably different shades. Perhaps someone else that knows more Greek can help us?

Well, that was an education! Why are there several names for some of the colours? For different shades, or is there another reason(s)?
