Cape Town is certainly not the capital of South Africa.

Pretoria, on the other hand, certainly is.

Dar es-Salaam is not the capital of Tanzania, its the biggest city of Tanzania. The capital of Tanzania is Dodoma. :)

aikheel is right, there are three official capitals in South Africa. A curious scheme were Cape Town serves as the legislative capital, Bloemfontein as the judicial and Pretoria as executive. Pretoria is now known as Tshwane after a rename in 2005. As a South African I would say that most people consider Tshwane to be the (main) capital.

Well, as there is no (or, actually 3) official capital of South Africa, so there is no correct answer as such. Wikipedia, however, claim that Pretoria serves as official de facto capital. Dar-es-salaam on the other hand is completely wrong of course, even though it is the de facto seat of government. Dodoma is still the official capital.

I think the correct capital for S.Africa should be Pretoria. Cape Town is the legislative capital not the executive
