The explanation:

Sweet Onion [city/area] can be Walla Walla (Washington) or Vidalia (Georgia)

Artichokes from the region in California which is the center of their production

Macadamia nuts associated with Hawaii

Idaho potatoes are well-known

Baked Alaska is a dessert (but not from the state)

Denver Omlette is well known

Omaha Steaks is a company which ships (expensive) frozen meat

Tex-Mex cooking is associated with that border region.

Powdermilk Biscuits are a fictional sponsor from the radio program “A Prairie Home Companion”, mostly about Minnesota.

Louisiana Hot Sauce is common (Frank’s, Tabasco)

Beer and Brautwurst (“Brauts” or “Brats”) are associated with Wisconsin

Pasties are a regional favorite in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. They’re Cornish in origin.

Tart Cherries come from Michigan’s Lower Peninsula: the biggest US producer.

O.[Orville] Redenbacher founded a famous popcorn company, he was from Indiana, a major producer.

Cincinnati-style chili features kidney beans, tomatoes, and often, cheese.

Georgia is the “Peach” state. There’s even a peach on their license plates.

Florida Oranges and Orange juice refers not just to the products, but the well-funded ad campaign.

Philidelphia Steak sandwich is well known.

Boston Crème Pie is a dessert.

Maine is often associated with lobsters.
