Yes the colors were deliberately chosen as second clues: not always easy or obvious choices, but I think they work.
And apple is way over the top in both 1st and 5th place (apple crumb).

In my garden & orchard, I grow 4 pie fruits: apple, cherry, blueberry, and rhubarb. Only the rhubarb is missing here.
OK, I sometimes grow strawberries, too. But not for pie.
