Aah, brings back memories of my west-bound shunpiking cross-country trip of 1995. Didn't take US-20 the whole way, but did manage to avoid interstates entirely until Butte Montana. Camped along the way, and missed the irony of my choice of campground in western Iowa until I heard the traffic on N-S I-29 within earshot. The ashfall fossil beds were still being excavated when I passed.
