If you mean "tear", the difference is in the pronunciation, such as, "tear" sounds like "tare" like in air (to rip) and "tier" like in beer (crying). The English language has many of these types of words: so, sew, sow. All of these sound alike, but the third one can be pronounced differently and mean the "pig". This makes English difficult, but English doesn't have masculine, feminine and neuter endings for adjectives to accommodate the noun.
