The Karakum desert is southwest of the Kyzyl Kum not southeast. It borders the Caspian Sea (which sadly isn't on your map) and the Amu Darya River. The Karakum is between the Amu and Syr Darya Rivers.

I can't find the reference I used for the Haladi destert anymore. Wikipedia mentions that in Icelandic the interior highlands are categorized into Háls and Heiði - perhaps the reference I used is some kind of abbreviation of the two. I will change the name the the Icelandic highlands as it seems to be more commonly used at least in english. As for Kyzyl Kum - it has been fixed.
