Binary Time
-
Author's Game Description
Just 3 dots. But you gotta learn anyway.
The binary numeral system represents numeric values using two symbols (0,1). It is used internally by all computers and we know them as bits (binary digits).Nowadays there are some fancy watches that use these numbers to tell the time...
Can you read it?
The red light represents 1 and the other 0. The top row represents the hours and the bottom row the minutes.
It is easy... starting from right to left every digit has a value that doubles the previous, starting with 1.
So if we have a 6 digit binary number, the values for each digit would be:
32,16,8,4,2 and 1.
For every 1 that you find you have to add the value according to de position.
For instance, 101100 would represent
32 8 4=44.Ready?

Don't get it.
After a few hits/misses, it tells me "game over man" (not in those words), but most dots are not hit?

Ok... ok... i know... 15 different times is a lot... Just do it 3 times, but you gotta learn how to convert from binary to decimal to find the right 3 ones.

You can easily search the web for the one you like the most, Dal. There are a lot of models... They are simply called Binary watches....

hehehe.... i don't think there will ever be a hexadecimal watch... It would be harder to make the conversion to decimal with it... And as you see, there are not a lot of people who would even bother to make the conversion from binary....

As a computer science geek this is fun. Where can I get one?

Nice!
When are you going to release a
hexadecimal-watch?:))

I definitely need one of these to shock my fellow students of computer science! Fine game

Yep... the game is over after guessing 3 different times.
The game originally was of 15 dots, but people were not playing it and i assumed that it was because it was too much (read my previous post). So i used one of the new options to request only for 3 dots every time you play.
That way this game is more playable for people who is not very involved into numbers and stuff, and it still offers some degree of challenge as you still have 15 different options to choose from.
